Boiler Attendant

Boiler attendants operate and maintain boilers used to
supply heat or steam for power that operates machines.
Boiler attendants may perform the following tasks:
- start equipment and adjust controls
- keep an eye on temperatures, pressures and fuel delivery
equipment
- clean and service boilers and flues and condition water
by adding chemicals
- carry out minor maintenance on valves and pipelines
- maintain safety and take remedial action in emergency
situations.
Boiler attendants usually work in conditions which are
clean and well lit. However, the boiler room can become very
warm, noisy and greasy. Shift work may be required.
