Car Wash Attendant
Car wash attendants wash, scrub and polish the interiors
and exteriors of cars, buses and trucks to protect their
appearance.
They may perform some or all of the following tasks:
- vacuum, clean and maintain vehicle interiors, including
dashboards and consoles
- vacuum carpet and car seats
- clean door trims and hinges
- wash and polish vehicle exteriors
- paint wheels and engine parts and blacken tyres
- drive vehicles through automatic car washes.
Car wash attendants may specialise as a
Vehicle Detailer who undertakes the tasks of a car
wash attendant and also:
- degreases and steam or pressure-cleans the engine and
underbody
- treats the underbody and interiors with rust-proofing
chemicals
- cuts paintwork using machines to remove rusty paintwork
or to improve scratched or damaged paintwork
- makes minor repairs to scratches and rust marks and
touches up paintwork as required.
Car wash attendants and vehicle detailers may work alone or
as part of a team.
