Consumer Scientist

Consumer scientists measure and interpret consumer needs
and preferences, making sure that these are taken into account
in the design, production, delivery and use of products and
services.
Consumer scientists may perform the following tasks:
- design and manage public nutrition education and
promotion programs
- understand and use specific principles to solve problems
related to consumer needs and preferences in the production
and consumption of products and services
- analyse and interpret statistically-based data to
provide advice on the quality attributes of products
- design and manage sensory evaluation projects
- design and manage food styling projects for product
promotion
- measure and interpret consumer behaviour in the choice,
purchase and use of products and services
- develop policy and analyse issues relating to consumers
- conduct social research to make predictions about
consumer trends.
