Vending Machine Servicer

Vending machine servicers maintain and repair machines that are coin-operated to dispense goods such as drinks, confectionery, cigarettes, postage stamps and tickets.

A vending machine servicer may perform the following tasks:

  • fill vending machines with products including drinks, food and cigarettes
  • study product manuals or specifications
  • when machines break down, talk to customers to find out the nature of the faults and take apart and examine machines to find causes
  • repair or replace faulty parts including refrigeration components and worn bearings and cogs, by soldering cracked or broken housings and replacing broken bolts, broken springs or other faulty parts and reassemble, and test that it works
  • keep machines in working condition by regularly oiling moving parts, replacing worn components and keeping essential parts clean
  • notify vending machine companies of machines that cannot be repaired on site and have these removed for major repairs or replaced by new machines.

Vending machine servicers may work indoors or outdoors, but usually under cover. They may work alone and drive to different locations every day, or work in a workshop.
